Are you a Java developer or are you thinking of becoming one? Developers for Java are generally in high demand. And developers with specific J2EE experience are in higher demand. J2EE provides the ability to develop a more stable, more secure platform faster. Developer jobs with J2EE seem to always be in high demand.

Java is a development language that was created by Sun Microsystems. It is specifically used to develop applications that run on the Internet. If you are on the Internet any amount of time, you have probably had experiences with many applications you may or may not know were built with Java. Or you may have gotten a message that you need to download Java through your browser so you can run a Java application. One common Java application is using a chat box with other people. An example of this would be a chat box you use to communicate with customer service people at a company.

Because Java is so heavily used in building Internet applications, there is a huge ongoing demand for Java programmers and for J2EE developers. One reason for this demand is Java's flexibility. For example, Java is not platform specific. It can run in any operating environment. This multi-environment capability is very appealing to companies who need applications built, because they do not have to have separate programming for each operating system. This aspect of Java is one reason Java programmers are in high demand. Since it is platform independent there are more companies that can use a Java programmer.

Java's flexibility is another reason companies are looking for Java programmers. For example, Java can be used to build a dialog with a user. It can also be used to build graphical interfaces. Since most computer programs today are built with such an interface, this is another factor causing high demand for Java programmers.

An additional reason why many companies actively seek Java programmers is that Java programming segments can be reused in other places and in other applications without redeveloping these routines. This saves companies a lot of money compared to developing custom code.

Java is also flexible in another way. It can make calls to and interact and interface with other programs. Considering the fact that many companies have a need to integrate separate siloed systems with each other, Java can fill this need in many cases.

In terms of interfacing with other systems, communications is necessary and Java has the ability to connect to and from databases. Java is extremely flexible moving data between different communication platforms. One example of this communication would be pulling accounting data from a database and emailing that data to someone.

How hard would it be for you to learn Java if you wanted that skill to advance your career? Of course it depends on many factors such as any previous experience you have had with other programming languages. A bonus of previous language experience is that you are more comfortable with the logic involved in any programming. However, there is a negative of having previous programming experience in another language; it may be hard for you to transition from a less-flexible language to Java.

What do programmers who use Java have to say about it? Most really like the language because of its flexibility and ease of use. If you compare Java to other languages, like C++, you will easily see how much easier it is to learn. Most Java programmers really enjoy developing in Java. Some even think it is fun to work with. One of the reasons they like Java so much is that the programming is more like working with a human in some ways. One uses commands and phrases for its syntax as opposed to numerical values or symbols.

Is there anything it would be helpful to know before working in Java in terms of your career advancement? You need to have a good understanding of a language that is dynamic or highly interactive and flexible. Languages such as PHP or JavaScript are similar in some ways to Java.

How can you find a Java developer job or a J2EE development job? There are many ways, including newspapers and at job sites on the Internet. The Internet is usually a better place to look because, since Java is used to build Internet applications, it is common sense to know that those interested in or working in a Java job would hang out there.

How do companies find a J2EE developer? Where do Java programmers look for developer jobs? When it comes to developer jobs, the best place for employers and potential employees to link up is through online career sites that match employers with employees. One excellent site for this can be found at www.j2eecrossing.com, which specializes in J2EE job opportunities and companies seeking J2EE programmers.
