The Clark County District School Board will lay off at least 1,834 employees, and potentially many more, in an attempt to bridge a $407 million budget gap. The school district’s fiscal 2012 budget, unanimously approved by the board on May 18, incorporates proposed concessions from the district’s four unions and an upwardly revised tax revenue estimate of $69 million, without which as many as 3,477 additional jobs may be cut.
